Language Advisory

I feel like I should give a language advisory at the top of this post. This is from James Cone, the spiritual mentor of Obama's pastor Rev. Jeremiah Wright:

"Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community ... Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love."

These are the most vile ideas I've ever read, if not the most vile ideas ever conceived by the human mind. I could read the manifesto of the Son of Sam and be less revolted. 'Death to Whitey' is one thing. 'Death to America' is another thing. But 'Death to God'?

"If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him ... Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy."

By contrast, Al Queada preaches that their God Allah commands them to kill Americans. To my knowledge, they don't say they would reject Allah's love if Allah didn't tell them to kill Americans.

"Follow the orders of Almighty God and His messenger and kill those people. Fear God, try to please Him, and do not consult with anyone regarding the killing of those unbelievers." (source) No mention of killing God if he changes his mind about the unbelievers.

If the 9/11 highjackers were a mile away from the Twin Towers, and Allah himself appeared before their eyes and told them to turn back, James Cone would tell them to kill Allah and proceed with the attack.

Furthermore, if the unbeliever converts to Islam, then war will end. "There Will Be Continuing Enmity Until Everyone Believes In Allah." (source) But 'the white enemy' is not able to change his skin color and convert to blackness.

I never heard Malcolm X say anything like that. I never heard Farrakhan say anything like this. I never heard Khalid Muhammad say anything like that. I never heard the Black Panthers say anything like that. I never heard Code Pink say anything like that. I never heard the Weather Underground say anything like that. I never heard a Communist say anything like that.

Understand that Cone's thinking would justify the assassination of Dr. King as an emissary of a God who commanded non-violence and love, rather than race war.

The question is not whether Obama agrees with any of this. The question is how could he stomach it?

Just how close to Cone is Rev. Wright? A while ago on Youtube, I was following links and came on an interview between Rev. Wright and Hannity of Fox News. Wright outshouted Hannity, which impressed me at the time. 'How many books of Cone have you read?' Wright repeated over and over. Wright actually suggested that a lead anchor on Fox News educate himself on the teachings of James Cone. No wonder Obama rushed Wright out of the country.

Mitt Romney's Mormon religion never concerned me at all. But the issue of his faith was right there, before the voters. Romney gave a speech addressing his Mormon religion before the primaries started. All the while, Obama campaigned that he belonged to a Christian church, while concealing the truth of that Church's teachings. I'm horrified that he would defend this as somehow 'a black thing,' tarring all of us as unpatriotic. This has nothing to do with the black church. This is about a master crowd manipulator driving people in his congregation crazy with charisma and rhetoric. The black church of Martin Luther King is a pre-eminent source of pride and honor for both black Americans and the nation as a whole.

Now, how does Obama talk about his faith in the general election? With Obama as the nominee, the Democrats cede the issue of faith to War Hero John McCain.
